Tallinn Music Week presents authentic small island tastes and the best cuisines in town

Tallinn Music Week, the urban culture festival taking place from 27th March to 2nd April in the capital of Estonia presents more than 30 eateries as part of the TMW Tastes programme. The menu of the TMW pop-up restaurant will be created by Ungru Resto from Hiiumaa island.

The TMW pop-up restaurant has become a popular hotspot during the festival in the centrally located Design and Architecture Gallery. This year the cookery will be brought to the mainland by Andrus Talvari from the soul-food restaurant Ungru on Estonia’s second biggest island Hiiumaa, presenting the best flavours from the island’s kitchen prepared with modern cooking techniques.

“We hope to offer the festival guests something special, yet simple and homely – just like life on the island,“ says the future Chef de Cuisine of TMW pop-up restaurant.

In addition to the pop-up restaurant the TMW Tastes programme will present 32 eateries offering special chef’s menus and discounts for TMW pass holders. This year TMW is putting special emphasis on ethnic cuisines, on environmentally friendly cooking and waste free consumption.

Part of the programme are the Italian restaurant Korsten, Armastus ja Hea Toit/Chimney, Love and Good Food in Tallinn Creative Hub, the Russian cuisine of Babulja, Lebanese Papa Joe Falafel & Hummus, the rustic Korean Gotsu, Kyuho’s kitchen, the legendary 1960s “it” place Tuljak, the cozy neighbourhood café NOP, the provider of genuine street food experience Burger Box, Renard Coffee Shop serving the best coffee selection in town, Georgian restaurant Pirosmani in a picturesque Nõmme area and the “embassy of pure food” Von Krahli AED.

A TMW Tastes veteran, Jaagup Jalakas of Von Krahli AED values the chance to join the programme: “Having been part of TMW since the beginning I appreciate the effect of the festival on the urban space highly. You can literally feel it in the air that something special is going on – a feeling that I look forward to each spring. The choice of TMW Tastes will be especially exciting this year as there are more excellent restaurants than ever before. I dream about more vegetarian experiences though.”
