Taking place on 26 – 30 August, the new music and city culture festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) has added over 20 new artists to the updated line-up. As of today, 31 March, TMW single event tickets are back on sale. TMW 2020 is presented by Telia.
The TMW 2020 festival programme, postponed until August, has reconfirmed nearly 90% of the artists announced for the March dates, and added over 20 new artists and 4 new showcase nights. In total, the confirmed line-up now includes 162 artists from 23 countries.
As a new special event, the TMW programme features a solo concert by Erki Pärnoja, on 28 August at the Tallinn Kalju baptist church. The acclaimed Estonian multi-instrumentalist will present his latest full-length solo “Leva”, released this February.
Several showcases have added new names to their line-ups. The TMW Opening Night at Fotografiska Tallinn will now feature renowned Estonian jazz musician Kadri Voorand, performing in a duo with guitarist Mihkel Mälgand. Newly added performers from the Üle Heli festival will take the stage that same night, including Swedish pianist Shida Shahabi and Russian ambient sound artist Atariame. The IDA showcase night in the Kai Art Center has added two Estonian experimental electronica projects – MLAK and Weak People – to the line-up. At the Noblessner Hall, the Funk Embassy party is now even more complete with beloved Estonian jazz and soul singer Sofia Rubina.
The GROM festival lineup at Sveta Bar now also features the Finnish indie band MEAL, and later at the same venue’s Intsikurmu festival night, Estonian electro-pop duo HUNT will take the stage. The Von Krahl metal showcase night has three new additions: Preternatural from Latvia, Coilguns from Switzerland, and the death metal group Intrepid from Estonia, set to release their new album this week.
The programme also now has three exciting alternative music nights. On 27 August, Sveta Bar hosts a dark pop and industrial showcase called “Void Valley”, presenting Estonian Bedless Bones, Hope from Germany, and three Belgian artists – Thot, Wiegedood, and Figure Section. On 29 August, Kauplus Aasia will feature the ghetto house and electro club night “Smoke Break” with producers/DJs laurel, MODERN DISEASE, AL-T and Kirja from Estonia, as well as Charlotte Bendiks from Norway. That same night, the Noblessner techno club HALL will join forces with the infamous Berlin Salon Zur Wilden Renate. In addition to the HALL residents, performers include the founder of London’s infamous lo*kee parties Sebastian Voigt, Berlin’s queer rave promoter S.Ruston, and Renate’s star The Swift.
Initially planned for the Telliskivi Vaba Lava venue, the Made in Baltics & Sony Music showcase night, and the joint programme of the Estonian Jazz Union, Jazzkaar festival and the Viljandi Folk Festival, have both been moved to the Salme Cultural Centre.
As of today, 31 March, Piletilevi is once again selling TMW single event tickets.
The TMW 2020 Festival Pass (65 euros), Conference + Festival Pass (175 euros), Conference Pass (150 euros) and Supporter Pass (500 euros) are available at the festival’s web shop. Telia clients get a 20% discount on passes and tickets bought ahead of the events. Additional information.
All TMW 2020 festival passes, conference and festival passes, and single showcase tickets bought before the festival’s postponement are valid on the new dates in August. Single tickets are valid on the same weekdays (Thu, Fr, Sat) and at the same venues. Paldiski Sunday (originally 29 March) passes, concert and bus tour tickets are also valid on the new date of 30 August.
90% of the planned TMW artists have remained in the programme, and the overall capacity and level of the festival has been fully restored with new performers and events. TMW would like to call on ticket holders for their understanding and recommends, if possible, not returning tickets and passes bought for March. The festival offers understanding in return, via the opportunity to exchange single tickets bought for March for another showcase evening, or to exchange a festival pass for a gift card that will be valid for the 2021 festival.

Requests for the excange and return of tickets will be accepted during 1 – 12 April.
